Clients Christiana and Sean had a vision to create a sustainable home, that not only stood up to the very best green credentials but looked beautiful. Less eco, chunky and raw, more elegant and timeless.
They were drawn to Hannah & Co. Design’s experience in creating unique and personalised homes that not only tell a story but are created from a design approach that is creative, inclusive and approachable. Christiana says, “We wanted someone who would listen to us and respond, rather than a standard interior designer and Hannah & Co. Design fits the bill”.
Using PTMA’s architectural vision and plans as a springboard, Hannah & Co. Design led the owners on a journey exploring the context of their home; surrounded by nature’s bounty and their desire to create a welcoming, relaxing, functional, and timeless home. It included an exploration of who they are and how they like to live. This resulted in creating a blueprint of a modern organic design direction grounded in a love for pared back minimalism using natural materials and palettes to guide all decisions.
Complementing, not competing, the materials, palette and modern organic design direction allow the architecture to really shine.
Using a curated balance of natural materials with contrasting touch and texture like that of timber and concrete, alongside a fresh yet calming palette of whites and greys with brushed platinum, gave Christiana and Sean a calming, sanctuary feel. Of the design, Christiana says “We love the modern, elegant Australian feel Hannah & Co. Design created”.
Detailing in joinery a nod to the pared back, elegant lines of modernism with shadow line detailing. Balancing the linear lines with circular forms such as the mirrors, and the feature lighting in more natural, organic forms.
Of the process and design Christiana comments “Bronwyn is just a joy to work with. Taking the time to understand and think things through. Choices that would be different from ones we would make ourselves, but stronger and bolder and more interesting. It was hard for us to imagine but she could see where we were going and what choices to make. She has a real eye for design and an eye for detail”.
To bring the design vision to life, Hannah & Co. Design embarked on a deep dive into the most sustainable materials for finishes and fixtures available on the market. Looking to companies’ sustainability credentials, considering all factors that not only included performance but visual look. Local artisans such as Fluxwood Lighting, Soktas Lighting, and Currumbin Woodworks, as well as leading Australian made Astra Walker have been used in the final design. Leaders in sustainable finishes, Resene paints, and durable, low maintenance, and carbon neutral benchtops are Dekton by Cosentino.
The resulting spaces are refined, yet natural, beautiful and grand, yet understated. A home to be enjoyed for years to come that tells the story of their journey so far.
